What We Do at WEKUME

Sexual & Reproductive Health (SRH) Education

At Wekume, we believe that knowledge is power—and when students are equipped with the right information about their sexual and reproductive health, they can make confident, life-changing decisions. Our SRH Education initiative is designed to break harmful cycles of silence, shame, and misinformation by delivering accurate, youth-friendly, and accessible content to Uganda’s university and tertiary students.

Our Aims:

  1. To empower students with medically sound, culturally sensitive SRH knowledge
  2. To foster open, stigma-free conversations around topics like STIs, HIV prevention, mental health, consent, contraception, and more
  3. To prevent SRH-related complications that disrupt education, dignity, and futures

How We Educate:

Skill Development & Entrepreneurship

Wekume understands that true empowerment goes beyond health—it’s also about equipping students with the skills and opportunities to thrive economically and lead with purpose. Our Skill Development & Entrepreneurship initiative supports university students in building practical, future-ready competencies that can help them succeed both during and after their academic journeys.

Our Objectives:

  1. Equip students with digital, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills to improve employability and innovation
  2. Promote financial independence through mentorship and hands-on training
  3. Foster a generation of socially conscious entrepreneurs who lead change in their communities

How We Deliver: (still in the development stage)

  1. Workshops & Training: In-person and virtual sessions on financial literacy, business planning, career development, and digital skills
  2. Internships & Exchange Opportunities: Access to curated opportunities through partner organizations and SRH sector placements
  3. Mentorship & Networking: Connecting students with role models, advisors, and entrepreneurial circles for real-world growth

We believe students are not only the leaders of tomorrow—but the innovators of today. By nurturing their potential, we’re investing in a more resilient, creative, and economically empowered generation.
